Career Counselling

Meeting with a Career Counsellor will give you the tools to:

• Determine whether to pursue a new career, or another job
• Take an inventory of your attributes, values, skills, talents/interests
• Identify what you need for career satisfaction
• Focus on your strengths and develop strategies for working on your weaknesses
• Investigate Career Cruising, which provides extensive information on careers
• Create an action plan to reach your goal and overcome obstacles

The Career Counsellor can also:

• Refer you to other agencies or programs
• Help you improve your job search techniques
• Stage a mock interview and provide helpful feedback

Employment Counselling

In addition to providing feedback on your resume and cover letters, an Employment Facilitator can:

• Provide you with a successful formula that will help you write cover letters that get results
• Assist you with creating Skill Based resumes that will increase your chances of capturing the employers attention-and you getting an interview
• Demonstrate how to use the information on your resume to prepare for an interview by creating answers to Behaviour Descriptive interview questions
• Introduce you to new resources and job search strategies
